Empowering Organisations to Support Domestic Violence Victims
Domestic violence (DV) is a pervasive issue that can impact anyone, regardless of their background. Organisations play a crucial role in recognising and responding to DV, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for both employees and customers. Our training program equips organisations with the necessary tools and knowledge to handle DV disclosures effectively and compassionately.
Why Your Organisation Needs Domestic Violence and Abuse Training
Domestic abuse is intertwined with many other challenges that individuals face when seeking support and services from various professionals and agencies. For instance, domestic violence and abuse are reported to be the second most common cause of women’s homelessness in Ireland (Mayock and Sheridan, 2012).
Women who experience intimate partner violence face significant health risks, including a 16% higher likelihood of miscarriage and a 41% higher likelihood of pre-term birth (World Health Organization, 2021).
Additionally, domestic violence and abuse can lead to financial instability, resulting in loss of income, unemployment, and coerced debt for survivors (Surviving Economic Abuse and Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance).
Survivors actively seek help from various agencies to address the wide range of issues caused by or linked to domestic abuse. The initial responses they receive from services and institutions play a crucial role in determining their safety and well-being, as well as that of their children.
Our Training and Development Department offers a variety of training programs and awareness events for organisations, available both in person and online.
