Teach Tearmainn provides a suite of free and confidential support services to women and children who are experiencing domestic violence and abuse. As part of our service offering, we provide Refuge and Safe Home accommodation to women and children in Kildare who are fleeing domestic violence and abuse. Our priority is your safety and well-being.

Refuge is a secure and confidential sanctuary for individuals escaping domestic violence, providing immediate safety and a supportive environment. Refuge is a short-term crisis accommodation response for women and children fleeing domestic violence and abuse.

The Refuge is equipped with robust security measures including staff on site 24/7 to protect women and children who are at risk of harm. Beyond offering a safe place to stay, our refuge provides comprehensive support services, including one to one domestic abuse support sessions and advocacy support. With trained professionals on hand, our refuge offers a holistic approach to recovery, helping women and children navigate their journey towards a life free from abuse.

Our Safe homes are units within the community that offer temporary shelter for individuals and families escaping domestic violence. Unlike refuges, safe homes provide a more independent living environment without the presence of on-site staff.

Residents benefit from the comfort and familiarity of a home setting, fostering a sense of normality and stability during a challenging time. While residents maintain a level of independence, Teach Tearmainn will provide emotional and advocacy support to help survivors plan for their futures. The community-based nature of safe homes allows survivors to stay connected with local resources and support networks, ensuring their safety and confidentiality.
