History of Teach Tearmainn

  • 1999

  • Teach Tearmainn’s was established as the only dedicated domestic violence support service in Co kildare

  • 2000

  • The first Domestic Violence phone line in Kildare is opened.

  • The support service is opened in 2001.

  • 2014

  • A new state of the art Refuge opened in 2014. The refuge is purpose built facility incororporating 4 self contained apartments for women and children who are fleeing their homes as a result of DV.

  • 2018

  • A dedicated Children’s Support Service is opened. Children and young people who have experienced domestic violence and abuse can now access specialised support.

  • Outreach Centre and dedicated Court Accompaniment service opens in Naas.

  • 2022

  • 2 Safe Homes are opened in Naas.

  • 2024

  • A new Freephone helpline service is launched.
