Your Legacy
When the time is right for you to include a gift in your will, please remember Teach Tearmainn. Once you have looked after your loved ones, any gift however large or small would make a significant difference to the lives of women and children who are experiencing and escaping Domestic Violence and Abuse.
Your gift will help sustain our direct services to women and children who are experiencing abuse in their homes. Your gift will increase protections for women and children.
Making a Will
Making a will allows you to ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death. With the help of a solicitor, you can make sure that all your affairs are looked after, and see if you are in a position to leave a charitable donation, small or large. If you already have a will, adding a charitable donation is a simple procedure. You can change your will at any time by adding a codicil- a legally binding document that details the amendments to your will.
Types of Legacy
- A residual legacy: a share or percentage of your whole estate. This means that however much your financial circumstances change, the proportion of your estate that each person receives will stay the same. Usually it is shown as a percentage of what is left of your estate once all expenses, debts and specific gifts have been taken out.
- A pecuniary legacy: a fixed sum of money
- Specific gifts or bequests: personal possessions, including property
Tax Efficient Giving
Legacies are an extremely tax-efficient way to give to charity. In fact, legacies to charity are completely free of Inheritance Tax. Teach Tearmainn will receive 100% of any gift you choose to leave.
